Professional Experience:
With more than thirty-years of experience, Darlene is considered one of the Contact Center industry’s most trusted consultants. Before she joined the CompliancePoint Litigation Services team in September 2020, she founded Direct Communication Specialists, LLC in 1990, a practice focused on Contact Center design, operations, and optimization. Darlene’s professional background includes executive positions with The Dun & Bradstreet Corporation, Donnelley Marketing, W.H. Brady Corporation, and National Data Corporation. 

Throughout her career, Darlene has helped hundreds of companies develop successful Contact Center operations. She has had the opportunity to work with major corporations in a variety of industries that include transportation, consumer packaged goods, banking and finance, insurance, pensions and benefits, publishing, consumer technologies, telecommunications, direct marketing and advertising, manufacturing, high-tech and medical products. 

Darlene is recognized as a founding member of the American Teleservices Association, 1983 (now branded as PACE, a professional association focused on Contact Center operations, regulatory issues, and compliance). She has served the Association both nationally and regionally in positions on the National Board of Directors and as president of the Southeastern Chapter. Darlene was publisher of the Journal of the American Telemarketing Association, the first research-based scholarly journal ever developed for the Contact Center and Teleservices industries. As a member of the Association’s Legislative Committee, she was actively involved with the development of the Telephone Sales Rule and participated on the task force overseeing the development of TCPA. She is a recipient of the Association’s TelPro award for industry excellence. Darlene is also a past-member of the Direct Marketing Association Teleservices Council and is past-president of the Georgia Chapter of the Society for Consumer Affairs Professionals (SOCAP). She is an active participant in both state and federal legislative activities related to Contact Center compliance

Darlene is frequently a featured speaker at conferences, trade shows and corporate meetings and has been published and quoted in a number of internationally recognized magazines and newspapers including Forbes, Wall Street Journal, Chartwell’s Guide to Utility Center Call Centers, Selling Power, DM News and Call Center Magazine. Recent speaking engagements include the Cloud Conventions 2020, International Call Center Summit, PACE Annual Conference, IQPC Contact Center Quality, Direct Marketing Association, Harris Corporation’s Annual Interexchange, SOCAP and the Southeastern Association of Gas Industry Executives. 

Darlene has been designated as an expert in U.S. federal district court and has provided expert opinions in several cases related to TCPA, TSR and other Contact Center and telecommunications issues. She recently worked on three related cases for the Defendant HSBC Bank / Capital One Finance. She has consulted on all three. The first case was settled in 2020. She was deposed and served as a witness for the second case in March 2020. (Rojas vs Capital One Financial /HSBS, Case No: 37- 2014-00023795-CU-MC-NC). She expects to be deposed and serve as a witness for the third case early in 2021. Darlene has also been engaged to provide written expert testimony in Reeve Schley v. One Planet Ops Inc. and Buyerlink LLC dba Contractors.com, No. 20-cv-00203 (N.D. Cal.).
